Girls and Guys: Why am i freaking out about my friend?

My friend is 14 and was going out with a 17 yr old, and they finally broke up about 5 days ago, but she keeps on saying that they are just taking a break from each other and stuff. But he can't hold a job and hes a high school dropout and will not go back. Why does she still like him I mean there are other guys out there that are actually worth a damn.
